Congratulations to all the Champions and Runner-ups from another awesome JEGs SPORTSnationals!
The weather leading into the event looked anything but promising but that didn’t stop over 450 of the Nations best NHRA Sportsman racers from heading to Bowling Green for the NHRA JEGs SPORTSnationals!
We started qualifying on Friday for all classes and finished the night off with the Racer Appreciation BBQ and fun at the Beech Bend Amusement Park plus a fireworks show!
Saturday began final qualifiers for all classes plus Class eliminations for Stock & Super Stock and RFC shootouts for the Super categories. Hometown favorite Kenny Threatt picked up a Super Gas shootout win in his ’63 Corvette Roadster.
Final eliminations continued through Sunday. Three regular faces at Beech Bend Raceway were crowned champions in their respective categories. Chad Axford picked up his first National event win in Top Dragster defeating a red-lighting Matt Sackman in the final. Mark McDonald took the win in Top Sportsman driving Charlie Evans’ beautiful Ford Mustang around John Taylor in the final. And Dave Walther drove his gear-jamming Camaro Stocker to a final round win over Austin Alvey in the Stock Eliminator Final.
